Part of my New Year’s “Resolution” is to be more organized- in terms of papers. We have a modestly sized home without tons of storage space, and when it comes to saving copies of bills, medical receipts, bank statements, etc., there just isn’t space for it all. Having caught sight of the infomercials on TV for the NeatDesk, and hearing a few blogger friends say they wanted it, I decided I needed to see if the NeatDesk might be the answer to my problems.

The unit itself has a small footprint, (even smaller if you get the Neat scanner) with three different slots to fit different sizes of papers to be scanned. That means it isn’t taking up a huge amount of space on the desktop or countertop. (For those of us with small children, it also means it is quite easy to put the NeatDesk up and out of the reach of small hands…) The different sized slots mean that you are less likely to have papers and documents get jammed in the machine. You can also scan things in batches- which saves a lot of time in today’s busy schedules!
Once you’ve gotten your business card, document, or other paper scanned in black and white or in color, YOU get to choose how it gets categorized. Or rather, I do. You can choose at your house. This is one of my favorite features- my dad used to call my way of thinking “Brett logic” and while he did have a point, and I maybe don’t think exactly like the rest of the world, my logic works for me. The NeatDesk lets me take the things I scan and get them categorized in my own way, not to some preset way that might not work for me.
TABOO has always been a favorite game of mine. I love it! It’s good, clean fun, and you can get seriously silly.
TABOO is recommended for adults, but I think many kids from 8+ can play- you may have to skip a few words, but overall I think they can do it. You have to think fast and think creatively when you aren’t able to rhyme or gesture to get someone to guess your words! This is definitely a must-have game if you are a game night lover like me, and with over 1000 words you are sure to have many hours of fun (especially now with the Uh-Oh! Buzzer- which I won’t lie, makes me jump every.single.time!!) Games like this are great to bring on family trips, too, or to family gatherings!

This Valentine’s Day, I got a treat for me. A new camera bag. A stylish, fun, modern, feminine camera bag. I love it. It’s one of the gorgeous, stylish and totally functional Jo Totes- the Rose bag, in Marigold. The name alone drew me in, but look how gorgeous this bag is! I have gone through I think 4 other camera bags since starting to use a DSLR camera, and this is by far the most stylish and functional. I’ve had pretty ones too but they don’t feel as sturdy. I want to feel like my camera investment is protected!
The beauty of this bag kind of speaks for itself. The functionality is awesome. Lots of options to configure the interior (in a fun houndstooth print) to get your equipment the way you like it, roomy pockets of varying sizes. Four adjustable pads mean lots of ways to use the interior! You can use the handles to carry your bag or clip the shoulder strap on and keep your hands free. This bag can also very easily be used for other purposes when you aren’t using it for a camera bag, or give it multi function. Why not do it in style? I’ve had bags that cost the same but they are boxy and boring, and totally not something that makes me happy to carry. I LOVE bags, and I really love fun bags. With a new baby in the house and 2 older kids, we give a lot of baths! I try to stick to all natural products as often as possible. I “met” Kori, a mom just like me, through a “pin” of how to do heart shaped braids into ponytails, but when I saw her book, Fun Hairstyle Ideas for Girls, I knew I was hooked.
This book is awesome. It’s got full color, step by step illustrated instructions for 16 different hairstyles. 16 hairstyles that I wasn’t able to do before. I can do most of them and I know I’ll be able to do all of them in time. It took me a while to realize that keeping my daughter’s hair WET is the way to get her hair to style it’s best.

I had no idea how difficult it was to shop for a vacuum cleaner. We have been without a vacuum in our house for 6 MONTHS! Our central vacuum cleaner stopped working as well as our refurbished 1960′s monstrosity. With a family of 5 having no vacuum cleaner is a problem. Luckily I was able to borrow some friends vacuums while I was making my decision. I did all the research, tried out all the brands but was having such a hard time making a decision.
