Busy’s thoughts: My girl is a little younger than the age on the box but she had a BLAST with this. She literally saw the box, opened it, and
made snaps using every fabric sample that was included in it right away. She was really proud of herself for being able to work the snap press, and figured it out with just a few reminders from me. The little kids were napping and I was making dinner so she was in heaven sitting at the table making jewelry creations!
She likes that you can make a necklace and rings, and a bracelet too. Her favorite is the necklace. She also likes the big sheet of paper (the decals) that you can make the snaps extra custom with! Once I showed her that we can use ribbon we have at home to make even more bracelet straps, she was all excited planning a multitude of bracelets for all of her outfits.
This Mama’s thoughts: I love this set. I love that it actually encourages you to continue using the toy with items from your own home that you may already have. Its great for little girls who want to customize anything and everything!
As they get older they can do more with decals or embroidering, too. I hate when craft toys are really good for just one time use and then there isn’t much else you can do with it. Seems so wasteful!
One thing as a mom that I really like about this is that if the fabric circles aren’t just “so” when you do the snap press, it will not stay put- but a gentle tug of the fabric gets it off of and out from under the snap, and you can just pull the snap pieces apart with your hands and start over. I love that you can keep reusing the snaps over and over, because, like I said above, I don’t like one time use toys so much. I feel like this offers a creative outlet, one that can be used over a long period of time. I can totally see her hanging out with her pals making snap necklaces during a playdate!
I would like for there to be a few more pieces in this set- specifically, another full set of snap bases, another necklace (so they can share with a friend) and at least one more figure 8 piece to make a double snap. Either that, or have some add-ons for the set. My girl likes to share creations and with the limited number of snap bases, isn’t really able to do that. Mind you, this is NOT a negative of the product, not at all- we just love it and have had so much fun that we want to do more!
The instruction book that comes with this set has a ton of really fun ideas that can keep your child busy with many fun craft activities using the snap press kit.
