Spring is upon us (whether or not the temperatures are in agreement is another post!!) and we’ve been outside, outside, OUTSIDE!! a ton. The kids are happier, I’m feeling happier- there’s just something so refreshing about being outside after a long cold New England winter that just puts a smile on my face. (The fact that the kids sleep better is an added bonus…)
I realized not long ago that the toys we have for outside are for little kids, and preschoolers, and that we don’t have much for toddlers. This isn’t such a good thing since I have a toddler, and she loves to go outside. Thankfully, Little Tikes emailed last week and asked if we wanted to try a new spring toy, and this cute 2-in-1 Garden Cart & Wheelbarrow was the option we chose:
-
- 2 in 1 Garden Cart and Wheel Barrow: $39.99
- Kids can grow their green thumb with this 2-in-1 garden cart & wheelbarrow!
- Product features:
- • Traditional garden cart styling
- • Removable fabric shade
- • Real working water sprinkler
- • Removable tray for flower pots
- • Converts to wheelbarrow
- • Easy to transport
- Specifications:
- • Includes: 2 garden hand tools, 1 tray, 2 pots, 2 plastic flowers, 2 plastic soil discs & portable water sprinkler
This is recommended for ages 2-5 although my 19 month old has had a blast with it, as has her 3.5 year old brother and 5.5 year old sister. (I find though, that with toys like this the ranges are usually longer than the boxes say!!) What you get for your approx. $40 price tag: a cute green wheelbarrow, handles, the pieces to make the adorable canopy (which “make” the toy, in my eyes!!), 2 flower pots, 2 ‘dirt’ circles, 2 flowers, 2 garden tools, a water container and a spray nozzle/hose for the container, plus a tray for planting that can be removed to use this as a wheelbarrow. I can see many, many hours of play with this toy in our yard- we do a lot of gardening and the kids love helping!
The fact that it is made by Little Tikes just tells me that this toy will last through many seasons, and many hours of play, no matter how rough that play gets. (We have Little Tikes hand me downs in my yard from 18 years ago that are in awesome condition!!)
The assembly wasn’t bad, I promise. It took me 12 minutes to do, start to finish, and it might take you a bit longer, but I’m the toy assembler in my house and I’m used to assembling this kind of thing.
You will need a Phillips head screwdriver (6 screws) and a hammer (for 2 quick things) to assemble this, as far as tools. If your kids are like mine you’ll also need diversions so that your 1, 3 and 5 year old are not helping you into doing the assembly wrong…
One of YOU will be receiving this same toy in the mail!!
