Xtrema 10.5″ Braiser/Skillet Ceramic Cookware

I have been making lots of changes in our kitchen in the past few years- we went to stainless for most of our pots and pans…I use a cast iron skillet for a lot of our cooking (easy way to get extra iron in)…and I was really intrigued by the ceramic cookware I have been hearing so much about lately.

Xtrema sent us a 10″ Braiser/Skillet with lid to try out. I have to tell you that I LOVE this so so much. Its non-scratch ceramic cookware, so care of it is super easy – but its also great for cooking and baking- I can brown meat in it, I can bake things, braise them, put them in the fridge, the stovetop, the microwave, the oven…even the GRILL (which I haven’t tried yet but we do plan to).

My family’s favorite meal is stuffed peppers. They get so excited when I make them. Normally I have to bake the peppers about 10 minutes in a pan of shallow water before stuffing and baking them- with the Xtrema, I didn’t do that step- and totally don’t need to again. I’ve done a meatloaf in this, and a few casseroles- all came out really well.

Because of the thermoplastic nonstick coating and ceramic material, there isn’t any leeching of chemicals of any sort into our food. THAT makes me feel good. I love the versatility too- with a small kitchen and little storage, space is a premium in this house. Having pieces like this which are versatile are so key for us! With my cooking “skills” I definitely need nonstick cookware. My cooking is always a hit or a miss. There is no in between with me.
