>Did you know The National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance recently gave America a failing grade for its fruit and vegetable consumption? And only 6% of Americans get the recommended daily servings of vegetables. That’s why they are asking US to help us inspire a love for veggies. Proclaiming your devotion to vegetables has never been easier; simply “Like” Birds Eye Vegetables on Facebook to support their partner, Share Our Strength. Through the “Feed Kids Better” campaign, Birds Eye is encouraging all generations to discover the virtues of vegetables and make vegetables the centerpieces of our meals.
We Bargains family members are working hard to eat and live more healthy this year, and while we’ve always had a veggie and sometimes 2 at lunch and dinner, I’ve been working hard to make it more normal to have 2 veggies and sometimes 3 with meals. I’ve cut veggies into silly shapes, let the kids play with their food- a burger patty can be a great ‘blank’ canvas for a face, with green beans for spiky hair, and round carrots for eyes…pepper smile…at the end of the day, we need to get enough vegetables, and any way I can do that without a huge battle is a successful way to get them into my kids (and ME!) in my book. I was excited to have the chance to share this opportunity with you all – and for us all to try some new veggies. I have a deep love for the Birds Eye Steamfresh bags, and especially being on Nutrisystem, have been known to eat a full bag of broccoli in one day- myself. Easy to store, easy to prepare, and delicious to eat.
