Meet the Balloonatiks!
Flator, Squeeker, Airbrain, Sparky, Bouncer and Leaky star in a series of high-flying adventures in Hot Air City.
My little guy has fast become obsessed with Super Heroes. He calls them “bad guys” but the bad guys- well, they are naughty. When I heard of Balloonatiks, I wanted to check them out, because the concept sounded neat and because he loves his super heroes. (I find it amusing that he loves them so, since he’s never actually seen a show nor read a book involving any superhero with the exception of WordGirl on PBS.)
What ARE Balloonatiks? They are 5 formerly ordinary teens transformed into, well, balloon like superheroes. (As long as they don’t come into a room and I don’t have to touch them, I’m 100% cool with this. I have a weird fear of latex balloons. My poor, deprived kids…). You can see them in action on their DVD which has 2 episodes for your viewing pleasure.
The kids liked this DVD well enough. The music is great, that I did enjoy. The stories, they didn’t capture This Mama’s attention like some others maybe have. My 3 year old thought it was great and has been telling me he’s a BOONtick for days so obviously, they should just ignore this mom and market to little guys who love superheroes. What superhero loving kid wouldn’t like a hero that stretches to huge sizes?
The jokes are corny, but the kids loved them. And I’ll be honest…I love corny jokes. That part rocks. The kids like the show and my 5 year old liked checking out the website with me- we didn’t get a chance to play the games yet but perhaps when she’s a bit older we can revisit.
