I received 2 samples from Herman T’s BBQ Sauce to review. I’ve never had this kind of BBQ sauce before, where you have a packet and mix your own ingredients. I like it. I also like knowing what is going into our food! I’ve used it twice, both times starting with the “Mild” mix and both times adding some of the “Spicy”mix. My family likes a little kick to things! It will surprise no one that knows me in real life that I used this BBQ sauce on chicken, both times.
You can make a little or as much as 3/4 of a GALLON at once with Herman T’s mix pouches- a few simple ingredients, a saucepan and a stovetop, a wisk and a timer set for 10 minutes and you have a fresh batch of BBQ sauce. One thing I have NOT yet tried but intend to do is to use this as a spice rub on meats (chicken, let’s be honest. Its almost all I eat!).
Check this out:
SO simple, so easy!! So delicious! (I won’t lie, it was a little ketchup-y for me, but my family LOVED it…and I added a little more water and a little more mix and it was awesome for me, too. Hey, its cooking- its a personal taste thing, but that’s what makes cooking fun for so many, isn’t it?)I do love how the BBQ sauce gives a nice color atop our chicken as it bakes.
Herman T’s even has a blog with some great recipes to try. Chef Brian is the mastermind behind these pouch mixes, although the Herman T’s BBQ sauce recipe is his grandfather’s. I love family stories like this, and it makes me like this product just a little bit more knowing the story behind it.
I am posting this review tonight, sans my pictures (there’s one with one of my mom’s cool whisks I inherited when she passed away, I’m so excited to be able to USE it) because, well, my whole family is sleeping UPstairs and that’s where the USB for the camera is and I’m on the laptop DOWNstairs and it won’t read my camera. But watch for pics in the next few days!!
Herman T’s wants YOU to try their BBQ sauce pouch mixes- and they’ve offered one This Mama reader the same set we tried- one pouch of Mild sauce and one pouch of Spicy.
