>National Geographic’s Big Book of Fun- Review & Giveaway- 5 Winners!! (Safe Fun in the Sun)

>We got to check out a copy of the National Geographic’s Big Book of Fun.  It’s full of all kinds of jokes, puzzles, mazes and other fun stuff.

Busy B has been loving all of the mazes and trying desperately to “get” the jokes (trying.  bless her heart!) and Buddy B has been loving the animal photos- and the rocket ship on page 12 (this page is about to fall out of the book we’ve gone to it so many times!)  and the space pages on 32-33.
There are so many fun things to do in this book.  I think that it is geared for kids maybe 5 and up, although I’ve been able to modify for my little ones, you probably can too.  There’s even some Mad-Libs style pages in here (I LOVED Mad-Libs as a kid!)
We are subscribers to National Geographic Kids magazine.  I love that magazine.  The kids love it too, especially the part where THEY get mail with their names on it!!
This book totally fits in with the image I have of National Geographic Kids.  Educational, real, and fun.  It’s about the size of a “double issue” of a magazine, so it is super easy to tuck into a beach bag, carry on, backpack, etc. when you are going on a trip.  Throw a pencil in there and you are good to go- hours of fun!!
If you didn’t already see my post about Jolly Rancher Popsicles, I will tell you that National Geographic Kids and Popsicle have partnered to “Slow the Melt.”   Here is the press release about this program:
  • Slow The Melt
Popsicle® is partnering with National Geographic Kids™ to help Slow the Melt. Whether it’s shutting off the lights every time they leave the room or turning off the water while brushing their teeth, there are very easy steps kids can take to help. In fact, National Geographic Kids™ created 10 simple things kids can do every day to help slow the melt of the polar ice caps!
  • Visit Slow the Melt to view the 10 simple things kids can do everyday to help slow the melt.

As part of the Popsicle® and National Geographic Kids™ partnership to help Slow the Melt, this summer Popsicle® will utilize Twitter to help raise funds for research and exploration efforts to help decrease the impact of global climate change by encouraging Twitter users to include the #SlowTheMelt hashtag in their Tweets.
  • From July 12, 2010 through August 15, 2010, every Tweet containing the hashtag #SlowTheMelt, Popsicle® will donate $1, up to $25,000, to the National Geographic™ Polar Fund for every Tweet containing the hashtag #SlowTheMelt, Funds raised will support research and exploration efforts of the polar ice caps and global warming issues.
  • For more information on the National Geographic ™ Polar Fund, visit The Polar Fund.
