>Little Green Books- Review & Giveaway (Safe Fun in the Sun) (Blogmania)

>Once I heard about Little Green Books from Simon & Schuster, I knew I needed to check them out. Before I get into how we much I like these books I want to tell you they have some super cute games that go along with the books here and also activities and downloads here.   We’ve got this site bookmarked because there’s some really cool stuff to do on there!!

Simon & Schuster sent us these titles to check out:

This is Our World- a board book geared for ages 4-6.  Its super cute.  There’s 2 puzzle pieces on each page and on the back inside cover, there’s a place to put the puzzle pieces together- each side of the puzzle pieces is printed on so not only do you get a board book, you get  2 puzzles!! My kids have been LOVING this.  The book also sends the message in a way that kids can get easily about how important it is to take care of our Earth.  It talks to kids about planting trees, pollution, and picking up trash at the beach, making birdhouses out of recycled milk cartons (which REALLY got my kids excited, since we did birdfeeders from large OJ containers and juice bottles early this spring- the connection was definitely made!) and how important it is to plant your own garden, and to do the 3 R’s- Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.  Its made from 70% recycled material.

What Do You See is a lift-the-flap book about endangered animals.  Its also made from 100% recycled material.  We spend most of our time reading the “bubba-fly” page, but they are all cute.  Each page is about a different endangered animal and the little poems on the left side are hints to what’s beneath the flap on the right side.

My First Garden This one might be MY favorite, because its shaped like a basket to carry your garden harvest in, and is also made from 100% recycled material.  Plus, it talks about the process of the garden, colors of the garden, and then they make vegetable soup for lunch.  Short, sweet and simple.  I love it.  The handle is so cute on the basket, even little tiny ones can tote this around no problem!!

Easy to be Green  This is a great activity book.  I do think its geared toward a bit of older kids- my oldest is just about 5 but some activities were over her head- I think 7-8 and up can get more from this.  It’s still really cute.  I have always loved word searches and jumbles, etc.  This brings the whole “Green” concept into fun kid games and activities.  Plus its a nice small size, easy to toss into a tote bag or travel bag on vacation!

Little Monkey  Baby B sleeps with this book in her crib.  Its so soft and cuddly, I don’t blame her!!  Its 100% recycled (I love recycling and recycled products, like you can’t tell) and MACHINE WASHABLE.  That’s right, folks.  A cute little story about a little monkey and a little panda and their friendship, soft and durable for babies, and it is washable.  Can’t lose there!!

Simon & Schuster get 2 enthusiastic thumbs up from This Mama for the “Little Green Books” series.  We love them.  We do, of course, love all books, but we try to live “green” and this only accentuates what we are trying so hard to teach our kids.  Plus, they are super cute.
