>K’nex Kids Review & Giveaway (Safe Fun in the Sun)

>We got an enormous box in the mail a few weeks ago.  Inside was a ton of cool K’nex things to build.

For Littler Kids:

Your child can build Sesame Street ‘s coolest red monster, Elmo, gearing up to kick his soccer ball! This 13 piece set includes parts to build Elmo in his uniform and ready to hit the field with his soccer ball. “Play &  Learn” activity sheet filled with collaborative and educational fun for parent and child is also included along with additional building ideas. When playtime is over store the parts in the handy canister for a quick and easy clean-up
Your child can build Sesame Street ‘s friendliest resident, Ernie, dressed in his bathing suit and ready to take a swim! This 14 piece set includes parts to build Ernie, complete with snorkel and flippers, on his way to the pool, lake or beach! “Play & Learn” activity sheet filled with collaborative and educational fun for parent and child is also included along with additional building ideas. When playtime is over store the parts in the handy canister for a quick and easy clean-up
Your child can build one of Sesame Street ‘s most loveable – and hungriest – characters, Cookie Monster, getting some exercise by hitting the basketball court!  This 15 piece set includes parts to build Cookie Monster dressed in his uniform, including his yellow visor, with basketball in hand. “Play & Learn” activity sheet filled with collaborative and educational fun for parent and child is also included along with additional building ideas. When playtime is over store the parts in the handy canister for a quick and easy clean-up.

This Mama’s Thoughts: I love that the little kid K’nex sets come in their own storage containers.  I think its awesome.  Of course, my kids mixed up the pieces and created their own creations, as is their norm, but its so simple to separate the pieces and put them in their own buckets.  Easy to assemble, easy to follow instructions.  Both my bigger kids (almost 5 *Sob* and 2.5 liked these a lot).  Its pretty cool you can bring them in the water, too.

Build 10 different models, including a cool fire engine, and bring them to life with the spring motor! Packed with 127 parts plus step-by-step instructions and building ideas for 10 unique models. The convenient storage box is a great place to store your parts and makes it easy for you to take the fun with you. For ages 5+.

This Mama’s thoughts: Love things that can be used/created in multiple ways.  We may never find out what else the set can do since my little guy is obsessed with the F”eye” wah twuck and won’t let us try to alter it AT ALL.   Anything that can “go” is a hit around here, even with the baby (K’nex are NOT for babies please don’t let babies play with them.  Baby B had to settle for wooden trains while the kids did K’nex).  The instructions are surprisingly simple- you really don’t have to read to follow them, which is awesome.  I love that you just pull it back and it goes, the kids love the ladders along the sides best.  Go figure.
Collect & Build the Construction Crew Series! Each set comes with K’NEX parts, including bricks, rods and connectors to build an exciting construction vehicle. There is also a K’NEXman to operate the vehicle, and construction accessories to play with! You can build on the brick plate that is included in the set, then combine all four sets and the brick plates become your own actual construction site! Recommended for builders ages 5+.

This Mama’s Thoughts:  The construction stuff is fun.  Diggers and tractors and things with wheels are what my little guy eats, sleeps and breathes about.  He’s not quite 3 but he can put the K’nex stuff together- not to the directions specifically but he does well enough.  Busy and I did almost all of the assembling, and had a blast doing it.  You should note these are for ages 5+.  I kind of think they should be labelled 6 or 7+ only because even at a week shy of 5 my little girl’s play with them was too rough-  they are really cool things to build but maybe not for smaller hands to play with- or maybe we Bargain peeps just play too rough?  Assembly wise, 5 is on target.

K’nex has offered one This Mama reader their very own Fire Rescue 10 Model Set of their own!!  To win:  Visit K’next.com and tell me, what your favorite K’nex set is.
