>Planning A Fancy Nancy Tea Party

>We are big fans of Fancy Nancy in this house, so when I saw that TwitterMoms was doing a promo to share party planning ideas and win a prize pack (read more here), I had to jump on it.  Our favorite book to read together is Fancy Nancy: Explorer Extraordinaire, and my 4 year old’s favorite book to read solo is the Early Reader Pajama Day.  With her birthday coming up the timing of this is wonderful!!  Especially since I just completed that cake decorating class last week…so I might be able to pull off some Fancy Nancy-worthy decorations.

I think we’d do our Tea Party outside, on some fancy sheets all spread out.  Instead of plain lemonade, I think we’d make Lemonade Tea (real tea bags!) and serve it (cold) in plastic tea cups.  We would use cute cookie cutters in different sizes of butterflies and flowers and cut all of the foods into shapes.  I’d definitely do cupcakes, because then each child would have a very fancy treat for their dessert.  We’d make some different color candy butterflies ahead of time and paint them with the edible glitter and have that out with some other goodies to decorate the cupcakes for each guest.

We would make some butterfly wings for each of the kids (and some in more masculine colors because my little girl has some friends that are boys too!) and let them decorate with cute plastic butterflies and dragonflies.  This would have to be done when everyone arrived so they could be fancy enough for a Fancy Nancy tea!!  We’d also have some of the mardi gras bead necklaces and some boas available for dress up, and a fairy wand/scepter (large bubble wand with ribbons hanging from it) to play and to bring home.

For a game we could play pin the wings on the butterfly.  For an activity and to take home I think we’d make little fairy houses from twigs (found) and peat moss (purchased) and I’d have to get some tiny little fairies sewn beforehand for everyone to decorate or not, to live in their fairy house.  The fairies, of course, would come to tea as well.  The fairies in their houses would be the take home  favor for all the friends who come to celebrate!!

I’d have to do some cute poetry on the invitation, and

Come to Molly’s House from one to three
For a tea party as Fancy as can be

Wear your fanciest clothes
From your toes to your nose

There’s going to be crafts and a game
We’ll give Tea Parties new fame!

Please let us know
if you are unable to go

So that we can plan to have fun
outside in the sun!
